Run VexCloud AMS where your data needs to live
In our cloud, on a private server, or inside your own network. The software is the same in all three.

Your data centre, your rules
On-premises
The same Docker setup inside your own network, for organizations whose policy keeps data in-house. The Android app can be installed as a signed APK for closed networks.
- Your IT team controls access and backups
- Android app for air-gapped fleets
- Part of the ONE-OFF licence
What is behind it
The same parts, wherever it runs.
- Web app and API
- The client application and the REST API that the web and Android apps both use.
- Background worker
- Imports, labels, reports, notifications, emails, depreciation runs and file checks run here, never inside a page request.
- Database
- PostgreSQL, with every company's rows separated by row-level security.
- File storage
- Photos and documents, checked before they can be downloaded, with optional virus scanning.
- Backups
- Nightly database dump and file archive, copied off the server; point-in-time recovery on the cloud setup.
- Updates
- Released versions applied with one command. A backup is taken first, and the previous version can be put back.
FAQ
Deployment questions
Can we start in the cloud and move to our own server later?
Yes. Your data can be exported, and a ONE-OFF licence lets you deploy the same software on your own server. Talk to us about the migration.
What does it take to run it ourselves?
One Linux server is enough to start: 2 vCPU and 4 GB of memory, or 4 vCPU and 8 GB if you want virus scanning of uploads, running Ubuntu 24.04. Close to your users is better.
Who looks after backups on our own server?
A backup script writes a database dump and an archive of uploaded files each night and can copy them off the server. We recommend testing a restore every month, and we can run this for you.
Can the Android app work on a closed network?
Yes. Besides Managed Google Play, it can be installed from a signed APK for fleets that never touch the internet.
